Culture and Tradition
Culture has been trditionally called "the way of life for an entire society." As such, it includes codes of manners, dress, language, religion, rituals, norms of behaviour and systems of belief.
Recently, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO (2002) described culture as follows: "... the set of distinctive spiritual, material, intellectual and emotional features of society or a social group, and that it encompasses, in addition to art and literature, lifestyles, ways of living together, value systems, traditions and beliefs".
According to UNESCO's definition, a tradition is a componet of culture and a way of life of a people. A tradition is more than just a custom of a people. It can define who you are, how you view the world around you and how you interact within it. There are as many different traditions as there are different peoples.
